The Power of Subconscious Mind

Dual Characteristics of Mind

We have only one mind, but that one mind possesses two distinct and characteristic functional parts. Each has its own separate and distinct attributes and powers. I will use the terms conscious and subconscious to represent the dual nature of your mind. The important point is to recognize and acknowledge the double nature of the mind.

What Our Brain Is

Our brain is our most precious physical possession. It is the storehouse of all the information we have experienced since day one. It is the keeper of our principles, our values and our perception of life.

Our mind functions only within the parameters we have established for it.

Our mind is programmable

Every stimulus that enters our brain affects to some degree, in some manner, the quantity and quality of programming that is taking place – programming that will influence and affect how we will interpret every event or experience that will happen from that moment forth. The type of programming that occurs is up to us. It is our choice – it is our decision.

Keep in mind, that you are in one way or another programming your subconscious mind with every thought you think.

Power to CHOOSE

You have the power to choose. Choise is yours. Either we can sit idly by as our mind works busily to produce fears, anger, doubts, insecurities, worries, misinterpretations, jealousies and all of the other negatives that form the foundation of a life of “quiet desperation”; or we can consciously modify and direct its programming to benefit us and those around us.

Working of Mind

Our minds are constantly taking inputs of all kinds from our senses and storing it, even the unimportant stuff. When ideas are repeated often enough and with consistency, we form Beliefs, or Generalizations, and these beliefs affect the way we perceive our reality and the way we behave. The inputs that support the belief are called “reference experiences”. For example, during the Cold War, Russians were always depicted as the “evil overlords” or whatever, so children growing up at that time no doubt believed that all Russians were that way, unless they were shown otherwise. If you grew up in a racist household, you always heard that blacks (or whites!) were inferior and all that, and you probably accepted it without question. What’s more, once you have a belief, your brain will dismiss or disprove references that run contrary to it. The only way to change these beliefs once they’re solidly entrenched is to either use powerful references that can’t be ignored (such as a rape or car accident), or to use references consistently and with enough repetition, the same way the original belief was formed. That’s why simply talking about things and getting advice tends to be so ineffective.

What you need to do?

Start a new list entitled “Affirmations”. Go over your list of negative beliefs, and for each one, create a positive statement to counteract it. Include a reference from your life if possible. Be positive... like dont say "I am not shy", instead say, "I am confident". Getting the idea?

Subconscious mind does not argue with you

Remember, your own thoughts are part of the input your brain takes in, and it doesn’t question anything, it just processes and stores everything. At first your beliefs will reject these statements, but with enough consistency, repetition and references, your beliefs will eventually change. Studies show it takes about a month of daily repetition, but that depends on how often you go over your affirmations. The best thing to do would be to print them out on a card and keep them with you during the day, and just read over them whenever you get the chance. As you read them, imagine how good it will feel to be that way; really get into it. Always remember, your subconscious mind does not argue with you. It accept whatever your conscious mind orders. So, select a better thought.

No affect of others on YOU

The suggestions and statements of others have no power to hurt you. The only power is the movement of your own thought. You can choose to reject the thoughts or statements of others and affirm the good. You have the power to choose how you will react.

While it is possible that certain personality traits are (partly) caused by your genetic make up, it is my belief that learned behavior is much more powerful.

Our Personality is subject to CHANGE

Virtually any aspect of your personality can change. If it doesn’t seem that way sometimes it’s because the methods you’ve been using just aren’t powerful enough. We look at the negative aspects of ourselves and say, “That’s just the way I am. I’m being true to myself by behaving this way”. We’re denying ourselves whole realms of growth and improvement with this defeatist attitude. Our personalities are NOT like a balance; improving one thing won’t sacrifice anything else.

Law of LIFE

Your subconscious mind power is like a magnet. It attracts things that resonate with its beliefs. To put it bluntly, if you have a certain belief in your subconscious mind, your subconscious mind will vibrate based on this belief and attract events and people that resonate with or correspond to this belief. This is the Universal Law of Vibration and Attraction. It is a law that exists whether you believe it or not, just like the law of gravity. Let me repeat. This law works on you whether you believe it or not!

In the last, REMEMBER, whatever your conscious mind assumes and believes to be true, your subconscious mind will accept and bring to pass. So, believe in good fortune, divine guidance, right action, and all the blessings of life.
